The state of Texas is denying birth certificates to American born children. This is a sad historic first in a shameful racist environment towards immigrant new mothers.
Not only does the 14th Amendment of the Constitution clearly ban such behavior, but if it didn’t it wouldn’t make Texas look any better. All Americans who support the constitution should unite against this hatred.
Judge Robert Pitman of Federal District Court denied an emergency injunction on Friday that had been sought by the families, who said immediate harm was being done to them and their children. The judge said that lawyers for the families had raised grave concerns but that additional evidence was needed.
