Immigration is one of the hottest issues in our society today. This controversial topic requires us to determine how to maintain a coherent, legitimate citizenry while still respecting the safety and individualism of undocumented persons who have migrated into our country searching for freedom and opportunity. Come out and hear our panel discuss some important and controversial immigrations issues as well as potential solutions to those issues.

About the Speakers:

Mr. Doug Bandow:
Mr. Doug Bandow is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, specializing in foreign policy and civil liberties. He worked as special assistant to President Reagan and editor of the political magazine Inquiry. He writes regularly for leading publications such as Fortune magazine, National Interest, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Times. Mr. Bandow speaks frequently at academic conferences, on college campuses, and to business groups. Mr. Bandow has been a regular commentator on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC. He holds a J.D. from Stanford University.

Professor John Barry:
By day, attorney John Barry is a Vice-President and in house Counsel for SunTrust Bank. At night, Mr. Barry is an Adjunct Professor of Immigration Law at Barry College of Law, where he enjoys the ironic coincidence in sharing the same name as the school. In addition, for over ten years, Professor Barry has provided pro bono legal representation in dozens of immigration cases – including the high profile Rita Cote case – and is a proud supporter of immigrant rights and humane immigration reform. He was born in and went to law school at The University of Iowa. He has traveled, studied, and taught around the world.

Mr. Chad M. Brandt:
Attorney Chad M. Brandt is a UF Levin College of law graduate from the class of 1999. Mr. Brandt is the son of a Cuban immigrant, and is passionate about ensuring that immigrants are afforded due process of law consistent with American ideals. He devotes his practice exclusively to representing and defending immigrants. Chad M. Brandt is the owner and founder of Brandt Immigration, specializing in complex immigration litigation. He uses his extensive litigation experience to effectively represent immigrants facing deportation.
